It’s Playoff Time.

January 16, 2012

I’m not a sportswriter… and it’s a far cry from politics to the gridiron… but yesterday witnessed the re-emergence of one of the truly preeminent football franchises in the history of the sport.

The San Francisco 49ers, Alex Smith and their no-nonsense head coach Jim Harbaugh, pulled off what may be the most remarkable finish to win a division playoff game in recent memory… possibly since 1981. Then, it was Joe Montana to Dwight Clark in what came to be known as ‘The Catch’.

This football franchise has seen its share of remarkable moments. The image of Terrell Owens at the goal line, snagging a last minute pass from Steve Young in the last three seconds of the 1999 NFC wild-card playoff game against the Packers at ‘The Stick’, is still fresh in the 49er faithfuls’ minds as the ‘The Catch 2’.

There can be no greater indication of the ‘new’ 49ers resurgence than the fans in Candlestick Park. The old place really rocked… you could hear the roar from miles away on the wind. The 49ers are back… and that ‘old’ stadium which has seen so many great 49ers teams over the years has, at least temporarily, a new lease on life.

It’s the ‘Niners’ at ‘The Stick’, and nothing can be better. Gone, for the moment, is the conflict over San Francisco losing the Niners to a monstrously politically-motivated boondoggle down in Santa Clara. The citizens of Santa Clara are about to be fleeced for well over a billion dollars they don’t have and can’t make up, no matter what the pols or the ‘experts’ say.

I love the San Francisco Forty Niners as only a native can, but that new stadium deal stinks to high heaven. It’s ‘new’ green technology is strongly reminiscent of another liberal boondoggle nearby; anyone remember Solyndra? Apparently, the EPA has its long nose in the mix here as well. That cannot bode well for the citizens of Santa Clara county. Wherever the EPA goes, economic conditions go with them… downhill.

I can’t blame the Forty Niners organization. They are, after all, a business and their owners reasonably expect to show a profit (oh no!… not the awful profit word). But there’s a much bigger story here.

There’s a double-edged sword and it’s called jobs. Santa Clara is home to some of the most dynamic and profitable businesses here in the erstwhile Golden State. It’s also home to the exodus of many of the state’s most wealthy and successful citizens. Governor Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown’s malgovernance has caught up with him… his backdoor regulation, taxation and ‘proposed’ tax increases on the ‘wealthiest’ Californians have really opened the flood gates to people voting with their feet, and incidentally taking their money, their companies and their ‘brain trust’ with them, to business friendly states where fiscal sanity rules and ‘profit’ is not an evil word.

San Francisco is, if anything, in far worse shape than California as a whole. Liberal governance has that effect no matter where it is practiced. But, for all its kinky quirkiness, the City by the Bay can unite and agree on one thing… the San Francisco Forty Niners are the real deal, and we’ll see you next Sunday at ‘The Stick’.

California, You’d Better Wake Up… Soon!

October 12, 2011

So while you were California dreaming… that’s if you still had a California job, that’s if your company hasn’t had to pull up stakes and head for business-friendly territory out of the increasingly repressive governance of (Red) Jerry Brown and his equally (red) state legislature, better known, perhaps, as Ali Brownee and the sixty-seven banditos… the 43 Republicans in the legislature, for the most part, have been valiantly but largely ineffectively trying to slow the Marxist juggernaut, which with the aid and collusion of the state’s public service unions, whose collective unfunded liability to the state is in excess of 40 billion dollars, has them spending millions of dollars in an entitlement turf war of massive proportions, between the unions and the nutcase hard left that California has no lack of. Then you introduce and add up all of the minority and special privilege, er, interest groups which have always been the hallmark of the left.

Few states have felt the crippling reach of the statists more than California. You know, if you strip away the state and federal government’s figures and substitute them for actual statistics, the unemployment rate in this state is over 16%. And, as I’ve mentioned before, there are pockets of unemployment in this state approaching 40%.

Jerry has been working very hard to sign the better part of some two hundred bills, vomited forth by the strongly DeMarxist legislature. If you’re a Californian, duck and cover. If you’re a parent and a Californian, you have plenty of reason to be mad… or ought to be.

Aside from the most thorough brainwashing any commissar would be happy with, our children are being programed by leftist teachers who are the direct product of leftist professors. You know the ones… I’m surprised that more of them aren’t out with there with the ‘protesters’. That’s a story we’ll take up later.

Our California public schools are a complete failure at education but are rather expert at indoctrination. Have you kept track of the numbers of laws this state government has written directly pertaining to your, and my, children? Do you know that these ‘creatures’ can actually whisk your teenage daughter away to a baby murdering mill without a word to you? Did you know that Red Jerry has signed a bill allowing children as young as twelve to receive injections of gardasil… the same drug that so outraged the people of Texas?

I guess he doesn’t think the people of California are smart enough to get it. He may be right… it is pretty foggy out here. I won’t go into the outrage that comes with the understanding of the unmitigated temerity of the left in the blithe assumption that all girls of twelve are, or would become, sexually active.
Let’s see, does this make Red Jerry the state’s predator-in-chief?

Jerry Brown… Such A Clown, That Jerry Brown.

August 28, 2011

Another week of long days and longer nights. That’s okay by me, beats the hell out of not working. Makes it a little hard to write, though. First and foremost, our wishes and prayers go out to the folks on the east coast who find themselves in the path of Hurricane Irene. For heaven’s sake, if you’re in a position to get out, leave. I was in two typhoons when in the Pacific and south-east Asia with the Marines. I know that sinking feeling of realizing that you’re in the path of one of these monsters.

I wrote that last night just before I got called out again. The nation’s attention is rightly focused on the developing situation around Hurricane Irene. Maybe not with the punch the first worst-case scenarios forecast along with various exotic computer models, but still plenty dangerous and with the potential to cause immense damage.

Meanwhile, out here on the left armpit of the nation, it’s tough to say what came first, the chicken or the egg. Is Barack Hussein Obama modeling his brilliant economic strategy on our equally brilliant Jerry Brown, or is it the other way around? Sure looks to me as though they went to the same school of economics. Jerry Brown heads a state with an out-of-control bureaucracy with a radicalized legislature owned lock, stock and barrel by the environmentalists and the unions.

With an unfunded liability of over forty billion dollars, California has one of the country’s highest unemployment rates and one of the least business-friendly environments in America. Jobs, skilled people and businesses are fleeing the state every day. Jerry Brown’s answer… fortify union contracts, increase fees and scheme every way possible to find a way to tax California citizens, some of the most heavily taxed in the nation as it is.

Ol’ Moonbeam couldn’t get the expected sell-out support from any California legislators. He’s a bit miffed at that… so he has to go about loading generations of inconceivably bad management and governance on our shoulders by as much stealth, lying and prevarication as he can.

He and Obama… the ideologue and old-style Marxist. The only differences I see is that Mr Hussein Obama’s unfunded liability is about forty or more trillion dollars. He’s equally good at destroying jobs and commerce. Maybe better. His long-term goals for America are far more sinister than anything Jerry could come up with. But it matters little to people who are out of work because of the policies of these two and the respective governments they ‘lead’… um, bad choice of word. You get what I mean.

People in California are finally coming out of their weed-driven stupor long enough to see the tyranny present in our state. It’s certainly no sea-change. Not yet anyway, but people are beginning to pay a whole lot more attention, largely due to the really vibrant and activist California Patriot movement… and yes, they are Tea Party members.

Let’s turn the heat and the spotlight on these California legislators… these ‘public servants’ whose arrogance towards the people of California is beyond belief.

California Dreaming.

July 2, 2011

For those of you who are fortunate enough to live in a state wherein sanity yet abides, count your blessings. The downward spiral of California predates this and several other recessionary periods. It goes all the way back to our present Governor Moonbeam’s father, the late Governor Edmund G.’Pat’ Brown… liberal Democrat, of course.

The state’s sob sisters managed to virtually empty the state’s mental hospitals, utilizing Assembly Bill 691. This bill was signed into effect by Governor Brown, though Governor Ronald Reagan was to take the rap for it. The bill’s original purpose was, as all liberally conceived schemes are, written and signed with all of the greatest of good intentions.

Initially, AB 691 was to remove the some 13,500 patients suffering from ‘mental retardation’ and place them in group home settings. Unfortunately, some people who probably would have best functioned in an institutional setting were also released. As time went on, many other patients suffering from various mental disorders were released as well. It proved impossible to control these folks in the communities and many can be found in homeless encampments… or on the streets.

The liberal march to the sixties and the communist-inspired revolutions in our colleges turned the society on its ear, as Vietnam played out to its tragic conclusion, with cowardly US politicians literally snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

It was that dizzy psychedelic atmosphere that brought Jerry Brown to the people of California in 1975. He proceeded to cultivate the public employees’ unions to consolidate his power base, and one of the state’s great political sell-outs was begun. The story since then has been one of virtually complete DeMarxist control over the state. Republican Conservatives were isolated and powerless to stop the radical agenda.

Fast forward to 2010… The public service unions, including the CTA, see Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown as their best bet to continue the death-grip of unfunded liability and oppressive contracts. In spite of having everything his way, Governor Brown has had to admit he couldn’t turn one Republican to his tax increases. I’ve been as harsh about California’s lackluster Republican Party and our Republican State Representatives as anyone could be. After all, they had sold us out for petty political advantage time after time.

I really hope that this is a harbinger of the future. They stood up and stood on principle. That’s what we’re looking for.
Stand tall.

Our Future Depends On Our Energy.

March 11, 2011

The leftists have worked long and diligently to bring themselves, and us, to where we stand today in this country with regard to our national energy picture. I’ve been out of the news cycle for three days now, and in the new media that’s several lifetimes.

That includes Scott Walker’s stunning victory in Wisconsin, which has the public sector unions and the Democrats in the State Senate changing their depends frequently. It’s a template for states all over the country. The public sector unions and their bought-and-paid-for Democrat party are losing it all over the country. Because they are essentially Marxist ideologues first and foremost, they’re blind and deaf to the rising anger in this country towards people who live at the expense of us all, then make unremitting demands for ever more.

Even in California, that great outdoor lunatic experiment headed up by Mr Moonbeam himself, Jerry (union made) Brown, is beginning to get the message that Californians, at long last, are getting the picture. At least, the Republicans in the State Senate are… they’ve refused to sign on to Brown’s tax grab planned for California’s special election this coming June.

Among other things, Brown was hoping to continue a ‘temporary’ sales tax that’s due to sunset. Jerry Brown will have to face his union bosses alone. The people of California have had it with taxes, fees and regulations which are destroying the state.

By the way… California has oil… California has lots of oil. Did you know that? Combine that with all the other vast sources of petroleum and natural gas in the continental United States… We are rich in resources.

Obama has a war on our oil, our own resources. We are world-class rich in coal, which technology has advanced to the point where coal-burning power plants, as with the production of coal itself, is virtually pollution free. Obama has a war against coal, as any coal miner or producer can tell you. He wants to cut us off from our own resources.

The same with oil shale, of which we have one of the world’s greatest known reserves. Obama and the DeMarxists don’t like this one either, no more than they like nuclear or hydro-electric energy sources. They’ve worked hard and diligently for many years to bring this to fruition.

There’s only one reason the left, in all of its many manifestations, would so desire this country’s complete dependence on energy from foreign, hostile sources. That purpose would be to damage the country’s economy and energy sectors, creating the required chaos for them to breed more treason.

The Democrats and their penultimate weapon, Barack Obama, are waging war against America on every front.
It’s up to us to stop them.

Go, Scott! Go!!

February 22, 2011

It was inevitable, this clash between those who seek and feel as though a sinecured, privileged entitlement is a birthright of some sort, and those who have to pay for it. It’s a pretty up and down argument. At least, you would think so. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker may turn out to be the left’s greatest nightmare.

Governor Scott Walker

Wisconsin’s governor and state legislature has stood strong in the face of the worst onslaught against a states governance in living memory. This ‘invasion’, for invasion it has been, by union goons and teachers who had literally walked off of the job, crippled some schools districts and closed others. The teachers were liberally sprinkled with SEIU thugs.

Make no mistake about it, Barack Obama put the Marxist stamp of approval on it by calling out his own personal corps of mini-goons to organize the public union disruption of state business. I’m tired of the whole union-entitlement business. No one protects my job. No one guarantees my wages or my benefits. I keep my job through performance… something to which the service unions, and unfortunately far too many teachers, are foreign. I obtain my raises and benefits through excellence in my chosen profession. Stated bluntly, my company keeps me and treats me pretty well because I make them a lot of money.

Without going into the financial specifics of the Wisconsin affair, suffice to say that the governor’s first offer is the best the lowlifes are going to get. What’s shaking the leftists to their cowardly little bones is that Wisconsin, with the great Governor Scott Walker, is going to become the template for other states who are, even as this is written, facing up to their service unions saying that the status quo will not stand.

One sad exception, of course, being the estate of Jerry Brown. He wrecked California once as Governor, selling the state and everything else to the unions in return for their support. He then went on to do the same to Oakland, Ca. as mayor there, and after a brief but totally politically-inspired and decidedly inglorious stint as California attorney-general, is now back and prepared to finish what he started those long years ago. Keeping in mind that at least half of the voters in California must be brain dead, it was the service unions that got him elected.

News flash: The voters of California are not in the mood for J-boy’s idea of debt reduction, a la tax and fee increases galore. Once he comes back from his June special election, he may have to face those self same unions to explain why he’s slashing their entitlements and cutting their pensions. There should be no unions in the public service sector at all. That’s why we had a civil service to start with.

The days of unions holding governments and private industry hostage over impossible to meet or unsustainable entitlements have to end.

Why Would California Re-Elect Jerry Brown?

February 6, 2011

Many’s the time I asked that of myself during his first two terms. We’re still living under the aftermath of goofy policies set in place by our boy Jerry. Aside from an early alliance with the public service unions and their constant demands for more for less, our then-Governor Brown cozied up to the environmentalists and curtailed water storage and dam building, guaranteeing the almost perpetual water shortages faced by parts of the state.

Jerry Brown also curtailed freeway construction, which has greatly contributed to the various traffic gridlocks here. But most of all, I remember him for his opposition to the death penalty and his soft ball approach to law enforcement and the penal system.

It may be argued that many of the infrastructure problems that we are faced with now had their birthing under Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown. I remember that unemployment was high in the state and construction was slow. Our Mr Brown did nothing to alleviate the job situation in the state, but did preside over the beginning of the exodus of business form the state by his insatiable appetite for regulation and taxation.

It is a trend which has continued to this very day and the economic debris-field you see before you, in this once most prosperous state in the union, is mute testimony to what awaits other states who are unwilling to face the new economic reality.

California is on the verge of, if not in fact, bankruptcy in all but name. Traditionally, as California goes, so goes the nation. I really hope not. For all you non-Californians out there, I wouldn’t wish this collection of nuts and fruitcakes on anyone else. It’s sad enough as it is, to watch the idiot shenanigans that pass for a legislative assembly here. Out of touch? Well, yeah. Just ask people all over this state who still can’t find jobs, or the ones whose companies are closing or moving away to friendlier states.

The exodus of jobs from the state that was presided over by Brown is still there, only now it’s a torrent. I don’t believe for one minute that Jerry Brown has any sort of an idea how to pull this state out of the depression it’s in. Now, Jerry has to pay the piper from the one group whose money got him elected in the face of a huge money challenge by Meg Whitman. Jerry long ago sold his political soul to the service unions. He’s their guy.

It’s the same unions that are going to be the objects of Jerry’s chopping block, because the citizens of California will rise up against his proposed tax increases in a special election to be held in June. Then, he may be forced to go to genuine deep cuts in agencies and departments, and cut the plethora of regulatory agencies that are choking the life out of business and product development in the state. Don’t look for him to to tackle the entitlement issue… I don’t think he has the courage for it. Not if he wants the unions to keep him in power, that is.

But don’t count on it. California will continue to be a foreign land for Conservative Republicans and business a while yet.

Ballots, Ballots And More Ballots.

November 6, 2010

The reports continue to come in from around the country. From California to Connecticut, ballots are being ‘found’. On the left coast, two million votes have yet to be counted.

Small wonder with strong rumors (as yet unconfirmed) of SEIU goons working the election count, along with at least one report of electronic machine tampering and another story of a precinct in Danville Ca., where the one electronic vote machine was not working. Voters were told to vote on provisional ballots ‘which would be counted at some time later’.

Provisional balloting has always been a pet peeve of mine. More so since the very scenario described above happened to me about three years ago. There had been a lot of registration shenanigans going on, and when I went to vote at the precinct where I had been registered for nine years I found that my name had been removed from the voter rolls. I was informed that I could vote using a provisional ballot… just like any illegal alien. Well, I’m here to tell you that it was a hot time in the old precinct that day!

Eventually, I got a communication from the County Registrar of Voters apologizing and saying that they couldn’t understand what happened, but assuring me that it would not occur again.

We have allowed the left to command the election place for far too long. They’ve been digging up dead bodies, registering dogs and goldfish, using their union thugs to intimidate voters… The public unions have far too much sway over policy and the electoral process.

I’ve avoided writing about the whole California debacle and I’m not going to try and do it here, but California needs to understand that Jerry Brown is owned lock, stock and Birkenstocks by the public unions.
Jerry Brown will steer this state into bankruptcy.

Meg, Use The Force.

November 1, 2010

Methinks the lady may be listening to her ‘political advisers’ and not the little voice within… the same skills she used in building eBay to the internet star that it is.

Californians understood and agreed when she told us how important small business and creative start-ups are to the growth of the state and the nation, and how runaway taxation and regulation is forcing businesses away from California. We agreed when she said that the state had to be brought to fiscal sanity.

Then, about a week ago, we started to see ads in which Meg appears to be saying that the state can’t be run like a business. C’mon, Meg! What the heck…?! You’d better fire those clowns and go with your gut feelings, your instincts… use the ‘force’, Meg.

This state’s economy went south starting with that prodigy of leftist goofball politics, Jerry Brown. Grey Davis then came to haunt us, and finally Arnold SchwartzenKennedy-Shriver to deliver the coup de grace to an already crippled state economy.

BB (before Brown) California was the largest business in the world, with a state government that was in partnership with business in world trade and a business model that was the envy of the world.

Under successive far left liberal governments in Sacramento we’ve experienced wave after wave of business and personal taxation, under the thin guise of fees paid to state and municipal governments. Fees, that were they examined in the light of the Constitution, would be found to be illegal. Much of what has transpired in our state houses and in our Federal government has had little enough to do with regard to the Constitution.

This state is a business… it’s a failing business… a badly failing business, and what’s needed is what would be asked of any executive coming in and being asked to rescue a distressed firm. Analyze strengths and weaknesses, cut unnecessary expenses, cut back on non-critical personnel, re-negotiate new labor contracts and re-establish the brand of the company… in our case, that’s the state.

You have to prove to the nation and the world that California once again fosters business and welcomes investment with business-friendly environments.
Meg, stick to fundamentals and forget the phony side-show guys.

Mea Culpa (Sort Of).

October 21, 2010

My article of Monday the 18th of October created a bit of a tempest. I’ve never had an article pulled on a Conservative site before. I’ve been tossed off of a couple of hard lefty sites, but that’s usually just funny.

I used to do a daily column on a really hard lefty site… I was astounded that they would publish my Conservative views. We were on there for about six months before someone on their editorial board came up for air long enough to realize that they were featuring a conservative op-ed every day, when they dropped us. We’ve been accidentally picked up by the Huffington Post once or twice too, that’s pretty hilarious.

The incident on Monday occurred on a site belonging to a writer and patriot I admire. One of his editorial staff took umbrage at my endorsement of a write-in candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Ok, I think I get the idea. We support and elect a liberal RINO Republican to keep from inviting Jerry Brown light into the state political arena, Gavin Newsom.

Fresh from destroying San Francisco, much the same way Jerry Brown destroyed Oakland as Mayor there, Newsom really wants to be Lieutenant Governor. He’d really love to have all those lovely Sacramento dollars to play with. There’s no situation out there that Newsom can’t make worse.

Yes, I agree. Newsom should never be allowed anywhere near Sacramento. But that doesn’t change a darn thing about what I think about Abel Maldonado. Meg had better be keeping a close eye on Mr. Maldonado should she be elected, as I feel confident she will be.

It doesn’t change a thing about the California or the National Republican Parties continually fostering candidates that may be able to garner a few marginal votes, but who turn against the party and against the people they are sworn to serve at the first opportunity. Gee, doesn’t that sound just like Abe? Let’s ask good ol’ Abe what his stand on illegal immigration is.

RINOs and other linguine-spined elitist Republicans are hell bent on taking charge of and co-opting the American Patriot Movement. These same establishment types are more trouble than they are worth. Today we have that political accommodation artist extraordinaire, Mitch McConnell, promising to find ways to co-operate with that monster in the White House. Hey, Mitch!! What is it you don’t get about the largest national movement that any of us has ever seen? We don’t want you to accommodate and make deals, period.

There are also, unfortunately, many not necessarily RINO Republicans who cave in to pressure by their peers on both sides of the aisles. These may be really nice folks, but they are not doing the job we sent them to do. We will remove them from office.

We do not wish to co-operate with Marxists or their surrogates. We intend to to defeat them and you, if you stand in the way of our saving this country and bringing it back under the Constitution.
Be warned.
